DEGREES OF BELIEF AND KNOWLEDGE,
SCIENCE-RELIGION RELATION
With dearable readers, we are going to explain mind-science which were in vogue in 19. and 20. century and the relationship between unbelieving ideas that get only them as guide, disregarding psalm religions and the truth in Universe with favor of Creator. We are going to examine the subject considering with the last psalm religion Islam.
There are 4 degrees of belief:
4th Degree: If a reliable friend of yours or a Messenger says that there is a fire beyond a
mountain, you may believe him hearty , with your sixth sense. In this kind of belief there is no doubt and no proof is asked. Belief to unseen, secret world and easily unperceivable existence are this kind of belief.
3rd Degree: There is fire beyond the mountain but the mist of fire is seen far away. This is a
sign and proof. Man believe that there is fire by considering this. Thus we feel and believe the existence of God by considering evidences in this world. For example, a man living in Asia but who never gone to Australia believe Australia in photos, datas in books, narrations and according to majority of rumors. Most belief in Universe are like this.
2nd degree: Man, in person, goes beyond the mountain and see the fire, perceives closely,
this is second degree belief. Nevertheless there may not be definiteness, eye and perception may be mistake.
1st Degree: Man, in person, goes in fire, burns, feels burning . He feels with all his sense
organs and witnesses. This is a real knowledge and belief.
Now we are going to examine the degrees of same knowledge and belief in evaluating
beliefs to holy books, prophets who convey psalm religions:
Because prophets are honest, distinguished and reliable people in society which they live in,
there have been believers in them and their states without asking them proof and miracles which surpass human power. This is fourth degree.
Belief in the evidences, signs, scientific discoveries relating to the facts such as the existence
of a Creator which the prophets and holy books notified throughout history, Doomsday, revival after death, the existence of next world, fate is respected in third degree belief. It is possible to apply to various and comprehensive fixings in these topics for reference.
Together with prophet’s honesty, having good morals, being reliable, wisdom, valuable
moral virtues, supreme force that prove the messenger of Unique Creator and belief in miracles which shows the existence of a superior power and system rank belief.
People will have true knowledge and belief after seeing some kinds of events and existence
such as Next world, revival, Heaven, Hell and angel after death but this belief in Other World will never bring use. Because the life lasting for to be tested will have finished, mankind will have failed in the exam although knowing all this clues and proofs, then human couldn’t understand and believe the truth!
Actually ‘to believe’ is a sense concerning the heart. ‘Sixth sense’ beyond the five senses.
There is an important clue in philosopher Robert Brawn’s that maxim: “A person’s understanding
have to be beyond the limits . Otherwise, why does the Paradise exist!”
Notice, most knowledge and belief that people have in their life basis on one or two origin:
A Tv program, a few books, some news that indicated from your reliable friends.
Now let’s think about family, man is born and grows in a family. For parents look after and love him/her, everyone rely and believe on them, approximately all people have an idea of taking his/her parents as a model in their religion. There are similarities between parents and children, children believe with heart and sixth sense that they are his/her real parents, They don’t have medical tests made. If they have suspected they make medical inspect and get proof. World and Universe are not unconfined, they have an owner. Like a large family: A large number of blessing are present to us complimentary, besides out of our control. You feel that the whole Universe is created in measure for service to human being. The Signs of Creator of Universe who bestowed us air, water, food, light, heat, material for clothes, intelligence, spirit have surrounded us. He controls the Universe. His messengers explained life meaning and way of life to us. We can believe him directly with our sixth sense or we can believe him due to evidences and signs.
And think this amazing example: According to objective findings, throughout 35,000 years in world history, assume that one million products and things are produced by humans. No one in the world can believe that even one thing or machine is formed by itself. In this case millions of perfect presents, prophets’ psalm , literary messages and their miracles to human being shows that there is an artist and all these are real, isn’t it?
In our life, intelligent and science are only vehicles to reach the truth and to find the Creator
of Universe, guides but according to a science philosopher Karl R. Popper: It isn’t an absolute and infallible guide as he will explain in details in the following. As explained in the proverb “Big things are known with the help of small clues.” Science collects clues to discover the important facts in the Universe. Human intelligent and its result science can’t be human’s target and idol as much to be adored. According to the believers, first man Prophet Adam took all names, informations and guidance from Lofty God, and informed people as an explanatory Messenger of God. A man who was born and left in a lonely mountain in a forest, how he/she spends his life with his intelligent without growers, educators like parents, teacher and how can he/she learn all necessary informations of life!
Also as everybody witness scientific findings and measures are changing continuously.
Today or in history something that you know it true can be wrong tomorrow. It is said that in early
years ,it was reckoned that 100 billion stars existed in the Milky Way ,and in Universe there were
100 billion galaxies, recent researches shows that in each has 200 billion, furthermore twice! As it
has been notifying in the past and still in some books for natural sciences that the light isn’t a
substance because of it hasn’t got weight and not occupied a place in space, whereas Einstein
proved that ligt has mass and influenced by the gravity area in the first half of 20. century, thus he
had proved that light was in material category. In brief, science and researches will help people
every time but won’t be able to be infallible guide.
It is 1400 years odd since Islam came out that the doctrines of Islam didn’t conflict with
scientific results that fixed and accepted by majority. Discoveries and findings verifies Islam’s messages, this shows that Islam is the right religion. Look! How many systems are there that encourage people to research, science and progress more than the religion and the holy book which has its first command “read!” and asks that “Don’t you think?” in 275 verses and orders to think over in 200 verses?
People who believe in unseen and unknown world don’t want proof because belief is related
to heart. But who wants to believe but asks proof, the evidences exist and are being discovered all around.
In 19th and 20th century, the reality that arouse great interest about either Universe has a
beginning or not and which one is right ? is proved scientifically: That is Big Bang.
Let’s remember Max Planc’s explanation: “Unfortunately today some people assume that
natural sciences now hasn’t relevance with religion. Whereas this is a wrong idea, on the contrary natural sciences strenghten religious belief and ideas”.
The atheist scientist Anthony Flew confessed this proved reality: “Big Bang model is quite
bothering. Because science proved a claim that defended by religion sources. The claim that Universe has a beginning.
The creation of Universe had been notified in 30th Verse; Sura’h Enbiya of The Koran like
that: “Haven’t deniers seen that the skies and the earth were joined together, then we ripped them from each other and we did made everything living from water! Don’t they believe in after all?” In this verses 4 important points attract:
Islam’s basic sources; Koranic verse and some words of prophet are scientific miracles. As
civilization, science and technology take progress, not believers but those who ask proofs will surely be convinced that their truth are proved.
First is that : There is a sign that the heavens and the earth were created from one dot
(piece). The whole Universe has been popped out from one dot. Then while it was a gas mass, parts in sphere shaped broke off and flied off into space cavity.
Second is that: Informs creation of every living thing from water. And the fixings of today are also like this. When seas and oceans come into existence, living ones coming into existence with getting mossy in water grew up in psalm laws. The God did created human from a Special mud that contains water as the most excellent living type.
Third is that: Lofty God points out this two scientific facts calling to unbelievers and want
them to think these events saying that “Haven’t they thought?” In other words, here scientific discoveries substitute for vehicle and guide to find the truth and The God.
Fourth is that: Even after the proofs about an event and fact are presented, there is a sign
that they may not believe.
Even Albert Einstein , physicist scientist of 20th century, stated religion-science relation
taking into consideration and they back up each other everytime:
“Everybody who searches nature is an Explorer who perceives a kind of religious respect,
The God’s power.”
As for Louis Pasteur, he admires that all findings and discoveries lead person to Lofty artist:
“Science leads human to God.”
Now let’s examine famous science philosopher Karl R. Popper’s explanations about science:
Scientific theories will always exist as hypothesis. Even a pretty well theory constituted
may exchange with better theory. Theories can’t be verified but can be supported. As long as a theory withstands tests, it is supported. Because it can be mentioned for a theory about it can be supported, not about its truth , the certain knowledge; old scientific ideal named episteme is an idol.
Scientific objectiveness always needs scientific propositions to be always in characteristic of
experiment. A scientific theory should never be regarded as accepted definitely or proved. All
theories are hypothesis, all can be abolished. Science is consisted of the hypothesis. Everything is
conjectural, no knowledge is definite. It can’t be mentioned that neither subjective nor objective
knowledge is certain. Science doesn’t represent “rational absolute right”. On the contrary, it is
regarded as science in case it is possible to be error, in other words it can be controlled by
experiment and testing. (Karl R. Popper; Austrian Science Philosopher)
His other speech is so: “Science isn’t a guide. Especially it isn’t an unlimited and infallible guide. Our moral and political preferences are important such as science, perhaps more important.
It is wrong that science rules people, reaching the era of establishing oppressive regimes on behalf
of science. (Karl R. Popper)
Both religion and natural sciences accept that without a Great Creator this world can’t be
formed. All innovations that natural sciences discoveried is an document about Creator’s existence and highness. (Max Planc)
We can give those explanatory examples that gives clues from life about belief in the
Unseen world which isn’t perceived with normal sense organs and existences: 500 Years ago, in 1500, when germs and viruses were unfixed by various devices, if it was talked about their existence, that would have regarded as hypothesis and wouldn’t have approved as fact. Whereas they were available and real. When they were fixed they became known fact. Akşemseddin who is the teacher of Sultan Mehmed has mentioned that very small and unseen living beings cause disease of humans. He must have discovered this with sixth sense, the eye of heart and by spiritual ascendance.
Moreover, 200 years ago in 1800 if some people had early means and they have been told to
world people on which unseeing cosmic rays, radio and tv signals revealing human’s voice and picture, different voices have been concealed on tapes, almost all the world would regard this information as “hypothesis, imagination”. But they were available. Because humanity had not the knowledge and technology of that, they would regard them nonexistent.
Other than this, astronomers are being informed of stars’ existence in the universe just in
case light of those stars reachs the Earth, that is to say, after billions of light year. Those stars were available far away, a sign of them was coming, however when it reached the world, that has been known by everybody. If a being faster than light toured around Universe, It would have perceived and known some things earlier. The sixth sense, clairvoyance is like this! The faster beings than light speed is an different topic of study.
Is it necessary for mankind to wait that thousands of years pass or to see, witness after death
to find and believe in thousands of facts which are secret or waiting to be discovered in the Universe? Here it is! This is the reason for the test of life in the world.
Isn’t belief based on the clues, proofs or in comparison enough in order to believe in truth of
some news or a disaster or salvation will come true after death? Whereas, you are believing in many things in life considering one or two proofs, clues, or common rumour which you regard them as true. We should overconsider about facts as broadminded and with no prejudice.
On the other hand, even materialist and irreligious people did witnessed everytime that
meta-physic, paranormal, unexplained, unidentified events and beings have come true, they have been believed in the existence of abstract beings, unfixed as objective such as mind, spirit, dream although they said that they only believed in material things. According to someone who never sees dream, dream is an imagine, something non-material some people mention about its existence because they perceive it. This is one of the best examples for seeing with no eyes. So, there is an upper system above all civilization for everytime. Humanity are in an effort to reach the Lofty Being who is owner of universe, moreover worlds and Lofty Universe since first man’s descending onto Earth.
